Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 to Merge Into Single OS?

Microsoft has been dishing out information–although through any means other than official–about the developments of its Windows Phones 8. ZDNet goes ninja with its research and comes up with a speculation that Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 could be converged to form a single, all-encompassing OS, which is nicknamed “Apollo.”

Although Apollo has long been associated as the code name of Windows Phones 8, ZDNet has found snippets of relevant and credible information in various websites that make them wonder whether the Apollo Project has more than meets the eye. These include quotes from résumés of former Microsoft Mobile employees, as well as interviews of people who have knowledge about the developments of Windows Phone 8. The site’s research team has also found possible new features that will be included in Windows Phone Apollo, such as a deeper integration of voice command functionality. If their hunches are right, users of WP Apollo devices will be able to compose notes and e-mails using only the voice.

Apart from this possible OS convergence, the site also mentions a possibility that Microsoft’s lower-end mobile OS would be split into two separate versions, namely Tango1 and Tango2. Meanwhile, we still have to wait for an official Mango release.
