AmazonLocal Brings Daily Deals Straight from Kindle

After giving it a dry run, Amazon has officially announced its AmazonLocal service, which offers Groupon-like deals straight from the Special Offers Kindle. Current Kindle owners need not fret because a new software update will go live in a few weeks.

AmazonLocal is the product of Amazon’s partnership with LivingSocial, a special deals company that currently offers discounts on restaurant dine-ins, massages, yoga sessions, and other services in 15 states.

Kindle owners can take advantage of offers in New York City, Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, and other major cities in the United States.

The service works by enabling the Special Offers Kindle to detect the user’s location, which then displays any nearby deals for that day. Users can purchase these deals directly from the Kindle without having to enter their credit card info because the payment is processed from whatever card the user has registered in Amazon.

Once the deal is purchased, users can simply enter the vicinity, flash the Kindle, and enjoy their savings.
